Heather Morgan, the rapper known as Razzlekhan and convicted for laundering funds from the Bitfinex hack, uploaded a video on the social media platform X after her early release from prison. In the brief clip, filmed in a bathtub, she thanked former President Donald Trump for reducing her 18-month sentence.
According to Morgan, she was released “like a month ago” after serving more than eight months of her sentence. Officially, she was sentenced last November for her role in concealing and laundering around 120,000 stolen bitcoins after her husband, Ilya Lichtenstein, hacked the Bitfinex crypto exchange.
Federal inmate tracking data still lists Morgan as being under the custody of the U.S. government, managed by the Sacramento Residential Reentry Management (RRM) office. This office oversees halfway houses across parts of California, Guam, Hawaii, and northern Nevada. It records Morgan’s official release date as January 12, 2026.
RRMs function as halfway houses that support inmates in reintegrating into society. They operate on voluntary compliance with strict house rules but do not have formal security levels. Morgan may currently reside in one of these halfway houses or be under home confinement.
Her social media activity included announcing upcoming new music and referring to a “crypto pardon season,” possibly hinting at a desire for a presidential pardon like others recently granted in the cryptocurrency space. The article notes that Binance founder Changpeng Zhao, who was also transferred to a halfway house, was pardoned by Trump last week.
Protos has contacted Sacramento RRM for confirmation of Morgan’s release status and will update when more information becomes available.
