- Near One CTO Anton Astafiev stated NEAR’s architecture makes it better suited than Bitcoin to survive a cryptographic “Black Swan” event.
- Astafiev explained NEAR can integrate new signing schemes without the multi-year transition other chains require.
- NEAR co-founder Illia Polosukhin announced NEAR AI’s goal to deliver private, verifiable, and secure AI.
- NEAR’s price dipped over 2% in the past day, with retail sentiment falling to “extremely bearish.”
Near One CTO Anton Astafiev argued on a recent podcast that Near Protocol is “better positioned than many earlier blockchains, especially Bitcoin” for a cryptography breakdown. He credited this resilience to NEAR’s account design, which lets it add new signing schemes without a “massive, massive transition.”
Astafiev said the team is “already thinking about Black Swan kind of events in cryptography.” Responding to warnings from an Ethereum researcher, he cautioned that preparation will be “a quite significant amount of work.”
Meanwhile, co-founder Illia Polosukhin said NEAR AI aims to offer “private, verifiable, and secure AI.” Alex Shevchenko, CEO of Aurora Labs, noted that NEAR Intents could serve as the “money-making machine” to fund this user-owned AI.
These comments accompanied a 2% drop in NEAR’s price over the past day, extending its monthly slide to over 11%. Retail sentiment on Stocktwits turned “extremely bearish,” while chatter remained low.
