The mobile basketball application’s developers highlighted Ronin’s substantial user base as a primary factor, pointing to 17.2 million wallet downloads and 18.9 million RON token holders. This move represents a departure from their original roadmap announced in August 2023.

Enhanced User Incentives

As part of the migration strategy, RKL is expanding its current soft launch on mobile platforms while doubling in-game FAME rewards. These rewards will become exchangeable for on-chain tokens during the first quarter of 2024, providing additional value for users.

The integration aligns with Ronin’s “Operation Leviosa” initiative, which aims to transform the currently closed ecosystem into an open, permissionless network for developers by February 2024.

Celebrity Backing and Brand Partnerships

Penny Jar Capital, Stephen Curry’s investment firm, has maintained financial support for RKL while launching exclusive digital sneakers through Under Armour. Paul George serves as a brand ambassador, contributing through his foundation’s initiatives.

The project, which began in 2021 with 10,000 NFTs on Ethereum, has established partnerships with major sports brands including Stance and Gatorade. These collaborations demonstrate the project’s ability to bridge traditional sports marketing with blockchain technology.
