The move is intended to provide users with a more convenient way to buy crypto and expand the platform’s reach to more than 189 countries.

The “Buy Crypto” feature is available to MetaMask users across eight different networks, including Ethereum, Polygon, and BNB Smart Chain, among others.

Users can buy over 90 tokens with various payment methods, such as credit and debit cards, PayPal, bank transfers, and instant ACH.

Once the user selects a payment method, they will receive a customized quote that takes into account their location and local regulations.

To access the feature, users can connect their wallets to the Portfolio Dapp or click on the “Buy” button in the MetaMask extension wallet.

After selecting the payment method and token, users will be redirected to a third-party provider’s website to complete the transaction. The purchased funds will then be deposited directly into the user’s MetaMask wallet.

MetaMask has been onboarding new users to its platform through several partnerships. In 2022, it partnered with PayPal to enable MetaMask users to purchase and transfer Ether via PayPal’s platform.

On March 21, it also announced a new integration with crypto fintech provider MoonPay that allows Nigerian users to purchase crypto through instant bank transfers.

The new “Buy Crypto” feature is a significant step for MetaMask as it makes purchasing crypto more accessible to users worldwide.
