- India launched the BRICS 2026 logo, theme and website on January 13, 2026, in New Delhi.
- The chairship theme is “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability,” reflecting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s people-focused vision.
- The logo uses a lotus with a central “Namaste” and petals in member-country colors; designer Sudeep Subhash Gandhi explained its symbolism.
- The official site, brics2026.gov.in, will serve as the main information hub during India’s chairship.
- BRICS expanded membership now includes 11 countries and 2026 marks the grouping’s 20th anniversary.
On January 13, 2026 in New Delhi, Dr. S. Jaishankar unveiled the BRICS 2026 logo, theme and the dedicated website as India assumed the bloc’s chairship for the fourth time. The launch brought together representatives of member states, international organizations, senior officials, think-tanks and media, and aims to guide cooperation through the year.
The chairship adopts the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability,” which the government says echoes Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “humanity-first and people-centric” approach. Jaishankar described the theme as focused on balanced and inclusive cooperation to meet shared challenges.
The new logo centers on India’s lotus and a “Namaste” motif, with petals showing the colors of member countries. The designer, Sudeep Subhash Gandhi, explained the concept, saying “As India is the host of 8th BRICS summit, we have incorporated the Indian salutation ‘Namaste’ in the centre. Namaste is the gesture of welcoming and respecting someone on arrival. The overall logo depicts the national flower of India Lotus. The perception of the countrymen and the world towards India has changed in the last one and half years. As Lotus is the symbol of prosperity and India is heading in the same direction, we have designed Lotus with the colours signifying BRICS members and their unity.” More on the designer is available via his public profile at Sudeep Subhash Gandhi.
Officials said the brand aims to reflect unity, diversity and shared purpose. Jaishankar also said, “The logo that we unveiled today reflects this approach. It combines elements of tradition and modernity, and the petals incorporate the colours of all Brics member countries, representing unity and diversity and a strong sense of shared purpose.”
The site, brics2026.gov.in, will act as the primary platform for meeting schedules, initiatives and outcomes and to improve transparency during India’s chairship. India plans cooperative work on resilience in agriculture, health, disaster risk reduction, energy and supply chains, and on innovation areas including start-ups, MSMEs and emerging technologies.
BRICS in 2026 marks its 20th anniversary and the expanded grouping includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.
