Global Hackathons Drive Innovation on Hedera with $1.55 Million Prize Pools in AI, DeFi, and Sustainability

The Hello Future Origins Hackathon returned this year, offering a $550,000 prize pool and a new global trilogy format named Origins, Ascension, and Apex. The competition took place from July 21 to August 8, inviting builders to develop Artificial Intelligence agents, decentralized finance applications, and sustainability solutions on the Hedera blockchain.

According to organizers, participants could join the event from anywhere, and the hackathon included Ask Me Anything (AMA) sessions on YouTube for ongoing discussion. Community members and participants are set to meet the judges as part of the post-event wrap-up. The public can also watch all AMA sessions on YouTube here.

The hackathon trilogy format encourages teams to compete in different stages, fostering innovation across multiple themes. Builders who took part developed projects within AI (artificial intelligence), decentralized finance (DeFi), and sustainability, all using Hedera’s blockchain technology. Attendees and creators also have the opportunity to meet with judges, highlighted by the organizers here.

Meanwhile, the Hedera Africa Hackathon 2025 is underway, offering a $1 million prize pool. The event involves over 10,000 builders from more than 20 cities, and runs until September 30, 2025. Projects cover a wide range of topics, from on-chain finance and real-world assets to immersive experiences, artificial intelligence, and decentralized infrastructure.
