On October 10, 2025, Europol announced the disruption of a cybercrime-as-a-service platform that ran a SIM farm and supported various illegal activities including phishing and investment fraud. The takedown followed coordinated law enforcement efforts across multiple countries.
Authorities arrested seven individuals, including five Latvian nationals, and carried out 26 searches. They confiscated 1,200 SIM box devices containing 40,000 active SIM cards. The operation also seized four luxury vehicles and froze $502,000 in bank accounts along with $310,000 in cryptocurrency funds.
Five servers supporting the service were dismantled, and two websites advertising the platform, gogetsms[.]com and apisim[.]com, were taken offline and replaced with seizure notices. The investigation involved authorities from Austria, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Europol, and Eurojust.
Europol reported that the network was linked to over 1,700 cyber fraud cases in Austria, causing losses of approximately $5.25 million, and 1,500 cases in Latvia with nearly $489,000 in damages. The criminal infrastructure was described as technically sophisticated, enabling users worldwide to carry out various telecommunications-related crimes.
This platform provided phone numbers registered in more than 80 countries, allowing criminals to create over 49 million online accounts anonymously. These accounts were used for phishing, smishing (fraudulent text messages), financial scams, and other offenses such as extortion, migrant smuggling, and distributing child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
The service marketed itself as a provider of fast, temporary phone numbers capable of receiving verification codes for over 160 online services. It also promoted a way for SIM card owners to earn Passive income by leasing their cards through specialized software.
user reviews on Trustpilot indicated difficulties in obtaining working numbers and reported unresponsive customer support, including no refunds for failed transactions. The Latvian State Police stated the platform facilitated anonymous communication and payments, affecting about 3,200 victims across several countries.
