Timothy Barnes, of Charland Court, Droitwich, is accused of multiple fraud and theft offenses and is now due before a judge on Thursday, July 10, following a postponed hearing originally set for July 3. The allegations involve falsifying emails and letters, with a reported goal to persuade people to part with their money.
Prosecutors detailed that Barnes is charged with 39 offenses. Among these, 34 counts are for alleged fraud by false representation, while two charges concern theft, and three relate to making or supplying an article for fraud. The reported theft amounts include over $262,000 taken from the British Motorcycle Charitable Trust and $1,600 from the Morton Wood Residents’ Association.
According to statements presented at Worcester Magistrates’ Court, Barnes allegedly used cryptocurrency in connections with the charges and attempted to recover lost funds. Prosecutor Lauren Millichip confirmed the total number of claims against Barnes, with the majority focusing on fraud, and some involving the alleged creation and distribution of fraudulent materials.
The prosecution says he created fake official documents from Lloyds Bank, Santander bank, and True Potential Wealth to support the fraud claims. At his previous court appearance, Barnes did not enter a plea and was granted conditional bail.
His case is one of several significant criminal cases moving through local courts.
