Dogecoin Millionaire Swaps ETH for PEPE, Becomes Meme Coin Mogul

From Dogecoin Millionaire to Pepe Millionaire: Glauber Contessoto Bets Big on Meme Coins After Selling Ethereum

  • Glauber Contessoto, known for his past Dogecoin investment, now holds about $1.1 million in Pepe coin.
  • He sold all his Ethereum holdings in early 2024 and used the funds to buy Pepe after being dissatisfied with Ethereum’s performance.
  • Contessoto retains more than 5 million Dogecoin, now valued near $920,000 as the price of Dogecoin dropped recently.
  • He has invested in other meme coins like Brett and Floki, aiming to become a millionaire in those as well.
  • His income sources include YouTube, voiceover work, social media sponsorships, and documentary-related events.

Glauber Contessoto, who became widely recognized in 2021 for becoming a “Dogecoin Millionaire,” has now shifted his focus to the meme coin Pepe. In early 2024, Contessoto sold all of his Ethereum and reinvested the proceeds into Pepe tokens, leading to his new status as a “Pepe Millionaire.”

As of now, Contessoto holds approximately $1.1 million in Pepe coins across six wallets, according to records verified with Decrypt. He also maintains a Dogecoin holding of over 5 million tokens, currently worth about $920,000. The value of Dogecoin has decreased by nearly 12% over the past month.

Contessoto said he purchased $100,000 each of Pepe, Brett, and Dogwifhat coins in the spring of 2024. While both Pepe and Brett have seen price increases, Dogwifhat’s value is down 82% from its previous peak. In February, he expressed frustration with Ethereum’s price performance, stating, "I was like, you know what? Fuck it. I sold out all of my ETH, completely sold everything, and put it all into Pepe." Pepe’s price has grown by nearly 37% since that decision.

Contessoto explained his belief that Pepe is as recognizable as Dogecoin, which increases its potential. He cited Pepe’s strong online presence, saying, "Even if you don’t know the name Pepe, you’ve seen the face of Pepe." According to Contessoto, Pepe’s origin as a comic character later transformed by internet culture gives it unique significance, despite its past association with hate symbols due to misuse documented by the Anti-Defamation League.

He also invested in the meme coins Brett and Floki, each with a $100,000 stake, hoping to replicate his millionaire status in several tokens. Contessoto’s initial capital came from his rise to fame, YouTube channel, merchandise sales, voiceover work with HipHopDX, and documentary appearances.

Despite opportunities to sell, Contessoto stated he has not sold Dogecoin, waiting for what he considers the right moment to do so. He now plans to sell at least half of his Dogecoin holdings by 2025, saying, “I’m not going past 2025 without selling at least half of my Dogecoin.”
