A website named Panama Playlists published a collection of Spotify playlists and favorite songs said to belong to leading figures in the cryptocurrency industry. The site appeared late last night, gathering attention for releasing music listening data of well-known executives and investors.
According to the Panama Playlists website, individuals including Brian Armstrong (CEO of Coinbase), Sam Bankman-Fried (founder of FTX), Sam Altman (founder of Worldcoin), Ben Horowitz (co-founder of Andreessen Horowitz), Marc Andreessen (co-founder of Andreessen Horowitz), and Garry Tan (CEO of Y Combinator), among others, had their Spotify habits disclosed. Brian Armstrong acknowledged the data’s authenticity in a public post, while other featured individuals commented on the situation through social media.
The operator of Panama Playlists, who remains anonymous and only provides a Proton Mail contact, told the New York Post that they collected the information for over a year. They claim to have verified the playlists by linking songs to romantic partners and noting daily account activity. The site organizes playlists and top tracks for each person, along with direct links to their Spotify profiles.
Music reportedly favored by Brian Armstrong includes tracks like “Long Way Home” by Gareth Emery and “Wait For It” from the Hamilton Broadway cast. Sam Bankman-Fried is listed with songs such as “Save Your Tears” by The Weeknd and “Runaway” by Kanye West. Links to these playlists, including Repeat and Morning for Armstrong and loud and soft for Bankman-Fried, are provided on the website.
Spotify data for Sam Altman shows a range of popular and indie tracks, with his “My Shazam Tracks” playlist linked. Playlists for Ben Horowitz, Marc Andreessen, and Garry Tan are also listed, featuring genres from jazz to R&B and electronic music.
The Panama Playlists site does not display ownership or background information beyond what was shared with the media. The story emerged as cryptocurrency prices faced volatility due to new U.S. tariffs and an unsatisfactory jobs report.
