- ICERAID, a controversial crypto protocol on Solana, offers token rewards to users who report undocumented immigrants through its platform.
- The project’s founder, Jason Meyers, has a history of financial misconduct including a ban from broker-dealer activities for misappropriating $700,000 in investor funds.
- Critics have labeled ICERAID as “crypto fascism” while it gains traction among right-wing media outlets despite demonstrating flawed verification capabilities.
A controversial cryptocurrency protocol called ICERAID has emerged on the Solana Blockchain, offering digital tokens to individuals who report undocumented immigrants. The self-described “criminal activity farming” platform encourages users to upload photos of alleged illegal activities through the Phantom wallet, with particular focus on immigration enforcement.
Jason Meyers, ICERAID’s founder, launched the platform as a way to crowdsource immigration intelligence gathering from the public. The project gained significant attention after being promoted by far-right activist Laura Loomer and Infowars contributor Jacob Engels, who framed it as an opportunity to “earn crypto for reporting and deporting illegals.”
The platform claims to use “AI Agents” to verify uploaded content for criminality before it can be submitted as evidence. However, these verification capabilities have already shown serious flaws—ICERAID incorrectly classified a Tesla promotional video demonstrating the vehicle’s resistance to a pickaxe attack as “domestic terrorism.”
Despite its stated non-political stance, ICERAID—named after the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency—has found an audience primarily among right-wing MAGA supporters. The platform has received promotion across conservative media outlets including Infowars, the Matt Gaetz Show, and Gateway Pundit.
Critics on social media have harshly condemned the project, with users describing it as “crypto-fascism” and “straight out of nazi Germany.” Crypto journalist L0la L33tz referred to it as “the stasi on solana,” drawing parallels to East Germany’s notorious secret police.
Concerning investor protection, The Rage reports that Meyers has a troubling financial history, including being banned from broker-dealer activities by the Financial Regulatory Authority after misappropriating at least $700,000 in investor funds. The publication also notes that early ICERAID token investors are already requesting refunds.
Despite claiming no government affiliation, Meyers has reportedly suggested discussions with the White House about the project. The platform’s tracker shows minimal activity, with only five submissions of alleged criminal activity—one being merely a screenshot from the Daily Mail.
The emergence of ICERAID coincides with increased immigration enforcement under Donald Trump‘s second term, where groups like Betar claim to maintain deportation lists they’re sharing with ICE. Current Secretary of State Marco Rubio has publicly stated his intention to continue canceling hundreds of student visas.
