Atari continues its expansion into blockchain technology with a new collectibles release, announcing a limited-edition series of 500 physical patch packs through DYLI, a marketplace powered by Abstract Chain. The collection, launching next week, combines traditional merchandising with digital ownership verification.

Physical Meets Digital

The patch collection features seven new Atari designs alongside two vintage patterns from the 1980s. Priced at $15 per pack, select offerings include additional items such as stickers and gift cards. One exclusive pack contains memorabilia signed by company founder Nolan Bushnell.

DYLI (Do You Like It?) implements blockchain technology to authenticate collectibles, with each physical item corresponding to an ERC-1155 token. The platform’s founder, Alex Needelman, emphasized the initiative’s focus on expanding user adoption.

Technical Infrastructure

The marketplace operates through integrated wallets powered by Privy, supporting USDC transactions and platform-specific tokens. According to the company’s documentation, users benefit from gas-free transactions, with DYLI covering fees through Abstract Chain’s native paymasters.

Atari’s Web3 Evolution

Since 2018, Atari has pursued various blockchain initiatives, culminating in the 2022 launch of Atari X, which consolidated the company’s cryptocurrency ventures. Recent partnerships include collaborations with Coinbase and The Sandbox, bringing classic titles to the Onchain Arcade.

Tyler Drewitz, an Atari director, views blockchain integration as fundamental to technological advancement, stating in an interview with Decrypt: “Web3 is a clear avenue of pushing the boundaries and what we believe is going to be a foundational element of the future of all tech, not only gaming.”

Despite early challenges with its ATRI token, Atari maintains its blockchain strategy, leveraging its historical significance in gaming to bridge traditional collecting with digital authentication methods. The upcoming patch release represents the latest step in this strategic direction.
