Cathie Wood’s ARK Invest doubled down on eVTOL stocks, buying more than 2.56 million Archer Aviation shares and 753,000 Joby Aviation shares as institutional interest in air taxis and defense aviation heats up.
The capital deployment spanned the ARK Innovation ETF, ARK Autonomous Technology & Robotics ETF, and ARK Space Exploration & Innovation ETF. ARK absorbed 1,787,367 Archer shares into ARKK, 562,685 into ARKQ, and 216,679 into ARKX, totaling 2,566,731 shares for $11.9 million based on Tuesday’s close. It also added 543,906 Joby shares via ARKQ and 209,424 via ARKX, for a daily haul of 753,330 shares worth $1.3 million.
Meanwhile, Joby has gained momentum through its role in the FAA’s Electric Powered‑lift Integration Program, moving real‑world flight operations forward in dense airspace. Archer, meanwhile, is expanding beyond air taxis by acquiring three Boeing‑owned businesses — Wisk Aero, SkyGrid, and Insitu — giving it access to advanced aircraft, drone, and air‑traffic technology.
On Stocktwits, retail sentiment around JOBY slipped to ‘bullish’ from ‘extremely bullish,’ while sentiment around ACHR remained ‘bearish.’ One user commented, “$JOBY Oh wow! Short sellers and put buyers are getting flustered as they sense the coming rebound.” Another noted, “It wasn’t that long ago that the stock was almost at $19, and ACHR is way more valuable now.” Both stocks have crashed between 56% and 38% year‑to‑date.
