- Noble Mobile, led by Andrew Yang, has acquired Helium Mobile, the service provider built on the crypto-powered Helium network.
- The acquisition allows Nova Labs, Helium’s founder, to focus on expanding the underlying decentralized network used by major carriers.
- Subscribers will experience a smooth transition, keeping their numbers and access to the T-Mobile-powered 5G network.
- The Helium network, powered by Solana-based HNT tokens, continues to operate with over 2.6 million daily users.
Helium Mobile, the mobile service provider operating on the decentralized Helium network, has been acquired by Andrew Yang’s affordability-focused telecommunications company, Noble Mobile. This strategic move combines two entities with a shared mission to disrupt the traditional mobile industry through low-cost, accessible connectivity. Helium Mobile COO Frank Mong told Decrypt, “We were drawn to Noble Mobile because of a deep alignment in values, vision, and the people leading the organization.”
Consequently, Nova Labs will now concentrate on growing the Helium network itself. Mong stated the network business represents their largest opportunity, especially after onboarding major U.S. carriers for traffic offloading. The crowd-built cellular network comprises nearly 139,000 mobile hotspots and serves millions daily.
Meanwhile, existing Helium Mobile subscribers can expect a seamless transition, retaining their phone numbers and network access. The service will continue to utilize the same T-Mobile 5G network, augmented by the Helium decentralized infrastructure, which Noble has agreed to use. The acquisition does not alter the Helium network’s token-incentivized model for hotspot operators.
The underlying Solana-based HNT token continues to reward network participants. The mobile network is generating more than $47,000 per day in revenue according to its public dashboard. However, the HNT token’s price has recently declined, falling nearly 7% in a day to approximately $0.64.
