- ZachXBT declines to assist XRP investors, criticizing them as unhelpful to the crypto industry.
- An XRP holder lost over $33,000 due to a scam airdrop linked to a malicious wallet app.
- ZachXBT states that he will not support communities like Ripple, Cardano, Pulsechain, and Hedera.
- Chris Larsen of Ripple Labs recently donated $9 million for a San Francisco police surveillance program, including $2 million to rent Ripple’s old offices to police.
- Past incidents include Chris Larsen losing $150 million from a hack, while the XRP price surged after U.S. political developments.
ZachXBT, a well-known blockchain investigator, has stated he will no longer help XRP holders seeking assistance after being scammed. His comments come after he received repeated requests from members of the crypto community, specifically those holding Ripple‘s digital asset, regarding scam incidents.
One request involved an XRP user who lost over $33,000 while trying to claim tokens from an airdrop. The user interacted with a fraudulent wallet application, resulting in funds being stolen across multiple blockchains, according to screenshots shared by another social media user.
In a message posted online, ZachXBT said, “Ripple holders provide nothing of value to the industry except exit liquidity for insiders thus are not worth supporting (Likewise with Cardano, Pulsechain, Hedera, etc)”. He added that he would mock requests for help from the Ripple community and criticized the Ripple foundation for being “cheap”, claiming the group no longer finances resources that guide its user base.
Without a dedicated forensic service for the Ripple community, ZachXBT suggested victims should file an IC3 report and attempt to track stolen funds through crypto exchanges.
Earlier in 2025, Chris Larsen, co-founder of Ripple Labs, was reported to have donated over $9 million to support a drone-based surveillance initiative for the San Francisco Police Department. Local reporting confirmed that $2 million of this was allocated to rent Ripple Labs’ former offices for use by the police. More details are available in reports from Mission Local.
In March, addresses associated with Larsen unlocked a billion XRP tokens and sent $140 million to the Bithumb exchange following an announcement by former President Trump. After Trump included XRP in a proposed basket of digital assets for a U.S. crypto reserve, the price of XRP spiked by 25%, increasing its market cap by around $44 billion in 75 minutes.
However, in January 2024, Larsen lost $150 million in XRP after a security breach linked to the LastPass password manager. According to ZachXBT, he reported the unauthorized transfers in his Telegram investigation channel.
ZachXBT has also stated he will not support other major communities, including those for Cardano, Pulsechain, and Hedera. He explained that he plans to ignore messages from individuals he believes lack basic financial literacy or are related to smaller thefts, opting instead to focus on cases involving thefts over $100,000 or incidents that provide valuable information relevant to ongoing investigations.
