VeChain’s StarGate: VTHO Emissions Slashed 50%

VeChain's new StarGate staking dramatically cuts emissions and boosts participation

  • Three months after its December 2025 launch, VeChain‘s new StarGate staking platform has cut VTHO emissions by 50.2%.
  • Active staker participation has surged 93.9%, with delegated stake now accounting for 45.5% of all locked VET.
  • The Hayabusa hardfork enabled new, lower-tier nodes, attracting 16,204 new participants to the network.

Three months following the landmark Hayabusa hard fork in December 2025, VeChain has delivered measurable outcomes with its new StarGate staking platform. Consequently, on-chain data reveals a fundamental and positive shift in the network’s economic model.

The platform has successfully reduced overall VTHO inflation by half, trending toward an annual emission of 7.3 billion. Meanwhile, the total amount of VET locked for staking now stands at a significant 10.7 billion tokens. This consolidation of capital directly enhances network security and decentralization.

Active participation has accelerated dramatically, with the number of active stakers nearly doubling in just thirteen weeks. The delegation requirement is clearly understood, as four in five NFTs are now actively delegated to validators.

VeChain introduced three new entry-level node tiers to broaden access, a decision validated by strong adoption. Consequently, these tiers — Dawn, Flash, and Lightning — have attracted over 16,000 new mints since launch. This growth welcomes a new cohort into VeChain‘s governance and reward infrastructure.

The mechanics of StarGate ensure that only staked and delegated VET generates VTHO, increasing rewards per node. However, this also eliminates inefficient ‘idle’ generation from wallets like those on exchanges. The data shows delegator stake has grown 45.5% to 5.9 billion VET since week one.

The platform’s success validates the ambitious Hayabusa hardfork and its updated tokenomics. The community is actively engaged in building toward future adoption alongside developments like the VeBetter ecosystem. Participation remains open for users to mint a node or migrate from the legacy system, which will officially sunset on March 15, 2026.
