Tesla Inc is nearing completion of its Semi truck factory in Nevada, a key step toward starting volume production this year, according to a post on X. This move aims to expand the EV giant’s lineup for commercial customers with its fully electric semi truck.
The company originally unveiled the Tesla Semi in November 2017, promising up to 500 miles of range on a single charge. Consequently, vehicle deliveries are now slated to commence this year, offering commercial clients a new electric option.
As per Tesla’s website, the vehicle will be available in two variants—standard range and long range. Meanwhile, the long range variant offers about 500 miles of range, while the standard range provides approximately 325 miles.
Last month, Electrek reported that the company is quoting $290,000 for the 500-mile version before destination fees and taxes. This price is higher than announced at its unveiling but remains below the industry average for a class 8 electric truck.
The company’s only other truck in production is the stainless steel Cybertruck, which has failed to reap as many deliveries as estimated by Tesla CEO Elon Musk. However, Tesla is also looking to start volume production of its dedicated robotaxi, the Cybercab, in 2026.
On Stocktwits, retail sentiment around TSLA stock fell from ‘extremely bullish’ to ‘bullish’ territory over the past 24 hours. Moreover, TSLA stock has gained 45% over the past 12 months.
