- Tesla‘s website shows delivery estimates stretching to 2025 for its new Dual Motor AWD Cybertruck in key markets.
- The company announced the price of the $59,990 entry-level variant will increase after February 28.
- Annual Cybertruck sales remain below initial projections, with total premium vehicle deliveries at 50,850 units in 2023.
Tesla’s Cybertruck faces extended wait times and pricing pressures, revealing significant demand and production challenges for the unconventional electric pickup. According to Tesla Inc.’s (TSLA) website, delivery estimates for the newly launched Dual Motor all-wheel drive (AWD) variant now reach into 2025 for zip codes in Texas and California.
The lower-price Dual Motor AWD Cybertruck, unveiled last week at $59,990, represents the most affordable version of the vehicle. However, Tesla confirmed that this price will increase after Feb. 28, though a new price point was not provided. Consequently, customers seeking the cheapest model face both a longer wait and an imminent cost hike.
The vehicle’s journey to market has been complex since its 2019 unveiling, where Elon Musk projected an entry price of about $40,000 and potential annual sales of 500,000 units. However, the truck is yet to breach 100,000 deliveries a year, with the company selling only 50,850 units across all its premium models in 2023. Meanwhile, the Cybertruck’s polarizing stainless steel exterior and angular design continue to generate split opinions among consumers and enthusiasts.
