According to event details, the hackathon has a total prize pool of 100,000 S tokens. Prizes will be awarded in six installments after deployment to help teams keep building. The top winner will receive 40,000 S, the second place 25,000 S, and the third place 15,000 S. Two additional honorable mentions will each get 10,000 S. Additionally, top teams will be invited to pitch Sonic Labs for lead investment opportunities.

There are no set tracks for entries, so participants can build any type of project—from decentralized finance (DeFi) to new social platforms, prediction markets, or any other application within the scope of Web3. All work must use the Sonic ecosystem, which is compatible with Ethereum and offers tools such as Fee Monetization and FeeM for app development. Applications will be judged from September 1 to September 15, with winners announced by September 15, 2025.

All students can apply, either as solo developers or in teams. The event also offers mentorship from experienced Web3 developers and connections to venture capital firms. In addition, Sonic Labs will provide ongoing support to help promising projects scale beyond the hackathon period.

To take part, students must register and submit their projects before the September 1 deadline. More information and registration details are available on the official S Tier Hackathon: Student Edition website.
