Solana Mobile will airdrop the new SKR token to owners of its second-generation phone, the Seeker, and to developers on January 20. An official X post listed the date in UTC, while a screenshot in the thread shows the claim opening at 9pm ET on January 20. The company said the airdrop aims to give users a role in shaping the platform.
The airdrop will deliver 20% of SKR’s 10 billion supply—2 billion unlocked tokens—to Seeker users and app builders. In total, 30% of the token supply has been allocated for airdrop incentives for the mobile ecosystem.
At the token generation event on January 20, an additional 2.7 billion SKR will unlock: 1 billion for liquidity, 1 billion for the community treasury, and 700 million for growth and partnerships. Another 1.8 billion SKR will unlock linearly to support future growth, as outlined in the tokenomics breakdown.
A snapshot of Seeker-device activity has already been taken ahead of the launch. That activity spanned more than 9 million transactions and about $2.6 billion in transactional volume during “Seeker Season 1,” the company said, and Season 2 began this week with further details expected.
Solana Mobile general manager Emmett Hollyer emphasized the token’s role for the community in an X post, stating, “SKR will give all of the people who have gotten us to this point the opportunity to influence the success of this platform: who can participate, what rules they follow, and what economic flows keep it going,” and “This airdrop is the first step.” The company also confirmed a previous model phone, the Saga, will not be included; a representative said, “Saga users will not be accounted for in the SKR airdrop.” The Seeker retails for $500, and more than 150,000 devices were pre-ordered following the rollout of the earlier device.
