This latest transaction increases Semler Scientific’s total bitcoin holdings to 4,449 BTC, which is valued at approximately $467 million, given bitcoin’s recent price above $105,000. The company reported that it has acquired its full bitcoin portfolio at an average cost of $92,158 per coin, amounting to a total historical cost of $410 million.
Funds for the recent bitcoin buying spree came from Semler Scientific’s $500 million at-the-market common stock issuance program that started in mid-April. As of June 3, the company has raised $136.2 million by selling 3.5 million new shares.
The company’s year-to-date yield from their bitcoin position now stands at 26.7%. Yield here refers to the percentage gain on the company’s bitcoin investment this year due to the increase in bitcoin’s market price.
