Radix launches public Hyperscale test targeting 500k TPS now

  • Radix Foundation announced its 2026 Strategy, shifting toward a fully decentralized ecosystem and ending Foundation-led Hyperscale research.
  • Timan served as Interim Hyperscale lead and will step down on February 4.
  • The private testing effort reached nearly 400,000 TPS (transactions per second) and a public test targeting at least 500,000 TPS is planned by the end of January.
  • The upcoming public test will prioritize reproducibility over third-party validation, publishing full configuration, workload composition, and raw performance data.
  • The Foundation will deliver code, test scripts, network configurations, and documentation so the community can continue R&D and address known constraints like state injection challenges.

Radix Foundation announced last Friday its 2026 Strategy, which shifts execution from a centralized Foundation role to a fully decentralized model and signals the end of Foundation-led Hyperscale research.

During an interim research phase, Timan took the role linked in the announcement as Interim Hyperscale lead and will conclude that role on February 4. The private testing effort reached close to 400,000 TPS (transactions per second), and the team plans a public Hyperscale test by the end of January that targets at least 500,000 TPS.

The public test will not include third-party validation, the Foundation said, to conserve resources during the transition. Instead, the test will publish full network configuration details, the exact transaction workload composition, and the raw performance data to allow reproducibility and independent verification.

The Foundation is delivering the codebase, test scripts, network configurations, and experimental patches needed to reproduce the results and continue development. Documentation will note known constraints, including state injection challenges raised by the community, and will make the work-in-progress openly available for community-led solutions.

“This interim phase was about getting Hyperscale to a point where it can stand on its own. It was to prove that the architecture Dan designed is robust, reproducible, and ready for the world. This push to a public test and documenting where we’re at means the community has the tools to continue on the vision.” Timan, Interim Hyperscale Lead

The Foundation says February 4 will mark the end of its direct management of Hyperscale and the start of community ownership. Hyperscale is a research program focused on increasing network throughput; TPS measures how many transactions the network can process each second.
