Major Crypto Loss Sends YouTube Star to Hospital
Brazilian YouTube sensation Lord Vinheteiro, known to his 7 million subscribers for classical piano performances, has been hospitalized after losing access to approximately $366,000 worth of Bitcoin.
The pianist, whose real name is Fabrício André Bernard Di Paolo, reported that his cryptocurrency wallet credentials were accidentally discarded with old sheet music.
The Fatal Mistake
"I lost the password to my BTC wallet. I think the housekeeper threw it away along with some old sheet music I donated to a second-hand bookstore," Vinheteiro stated on social media.
The incident involves a Ledger Nano X hardware wallet, which requires both a PIN and a 24-word backup phrase for access.
A video shared by the pianist shows him frantically searching his home library for the missing credentials.
Technical Recovery Prospects
Brazilian cryptocurrency security expert Marcello Paz explained the severity of the situation during a recent podcast appearance.
"If he’s lost both the PIN and the backup phrase, there’s no recovery path," Paz stated, highlighting that Ledger devices automatically erase all data after three failed PIN attempts.
The security expert emphasized that even knowing 23 of 24 backup words in the wrong order would require billions of years to crack.
Financial Impact and Scam Attempts
The loss compounds earlier financial setbacks, including poorly timed Bitcoin trades and a $30,000 loss from investing in OIBR3, a bankrupt Brazilian telecommunications company.
Vinheteiro revealed that recovery attempts have led to additional losses through scam artists demanding upfront payments.
"I even paid one guy who disappeared after receiving the money," the pianist reported on November 17.
