- Crypto games Pixels and Forgotten Runiverse are collaborating to integrate the PIXEL token into Runiverse gameplay on the Ronin network.
- Players will be able to claim PIXEL rewards with Quanta (Runiverse’s in-game currency) and use PIXEL to purchase mana, boosts, and exclusive items.
- Both companies see the partnership as an opportunity to gather data on player behavior to optimize engagement and play-to-earn strategies.
Pixels and Forgotten Runiverse, two crypto gaming projects operating on Ethereum‘s Ronin scaling network, have announced a partnership to integrate Pixels’ PIXEL token into Forgotten Runiverse’s gameplay. This collaboration comes as Forgotten Runiverse, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG), has recently opened public access in early access mode.
The integration will allow Runiverse players to claim PIXEL rewards using Quanta, the in-game currency of Forgotten Runiverse. Players will also be able to use PIXEL tokens to purchase mana, boosts, and exclusive items within the game, creating new utility for the token.
Strategic Network Moves
Both games have strategically positioned themselves on the Ronin network in recent times. Forgotten Runiverse, developed by Biosonic and based on the Ethereum NFT collection Forgotten Runes Wizard’s Cult, moved from layer-2 Arbitrum to Ronin in July 2024. The game plans to eventually launch its own native token, XP, which will serve as the ecosystem token for Forgotten Runes.
Similarly, social farming game Pixels relocated to Ronin in late 2023, which helped generate renewed attention to the Ethereum network before last year’s launch of the PIXEL token. The collaboration comes amid efforts to open up Ronin to all builders.
Data-Driven Collaboration
Both teams emphasize that data analysis will play a crucial role in their partnership. Luke Barwikowski, Pixels founder, told Decrypt: “We’re all about using big data, AI, and predictive analytics to refine our play-to-earn models and boost reward efficiency.”
Shane Bierwith, Biosonic COO, highlighted that they will measure “how effectively PIXEL drives repeat engagement, retention, and meaningful in-game spend,” including tracking how users swap Quanta into PIXEL and its usage in the game’s Font of Memory rewards system.
To celebrate the partnership, Runiverse-themed quests will launch in Pixels, and a special Runiverse avatar will be available before the official PIXEL integration, which is expected this quarter.
Pixels has generated over $20 million in revenue and claims more than 10 million registered players. The PIXEL token has already been integrated into the core Pixels game and its spinoff Pixel Dungeons, which launched in December.
Barwikowski described this integration as “just the start,” noting that the ultimate goal is to “bring Web3 into the mainstream” through collaborative efforts that help all games in the ecosystem grow.
