Theta Network reported significant ecosystem expansion in March, securing new partnerships across multiple sectors while advancing its EdgeCloud technology. The platform, focusing on decentralized computing resources for AI applications, continues to gain traction with major sports franchises, academic institutions, and AI developers as it prepares for international events throughout 2025.
NHL’s New Jersey Devils has become the latest sports franchise to join Theta’s EdgeCloud ecosystem, following the launch of their agentic AI chatbot. This marks the second NHL team utilizing Theta’s technology after the Vegas Golden Knights, who previously implemented a similar AI solution called “Sir Lancelbot” for fan engagement.
In the academic sector, EdgeCloud secured two new institutional customers in South Korea. Kangwon National University’s Data Analytics & Machine Intelligence (DAMI) Lab, led by Professor Kyeongpil Kang, and Chung-Ang University’s Intelligent Information Processing Lab (IIPL), headed by Professor Young Bin Kim, will utilize the decentralized computing resources for research initiatives.
The platform has released several technical advancements, including support for Agentic AI tools and the DeepSeek large language model (LLM). Additionally, Nubila, a Depin (Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Networks) protocol building a Real World Data Network, announced plans to leverage Theta EdgeCloud’s distributed GPU resources for AI model training on weather data.
Theta’s foundational research continues to gain academic recognition, with the Zunesha architecture paper, detailing the core technology behind Theta Metachain, officially published in the ELSP Journal of Blockchain.
The company announced ThetaCon 2025, scheduled to take place in Berlin in September. The event will feature a main conference and the newly created BlockJam hackathon leading up to what they’re calling ThetaEuroCon.
Theta’s global outreach continues with community meetups in Madrid, where enthusiasts expressed Optimism about the network’s future despite volatile market conditions. The team plans to participate in Paris Blockchain Week on April 10th, followed by Token2049 in Dubai.
The ongoing expansion across diverse sectors signals Theta’s strategic positioning at the intersection of decentralized infrastructure, AI technology, and practical enterprise applications, with further developments anticipated in the coming months.
