On March 25, 2026, the globally renowned McLaren Racing team joined the Hedera Council to accelerate digital innovation in motorsport, as announced on the official Hedera blog. Consequently, the Formula 1 and IndyCar competitor will now help govern the Hedera network’s software and services with equal voting rights.
Nick Martin, Co-Chief Commercial Officer for McLaren Racing, stated, “Joining Hedera Council enables us to help shape the Hedera network’s evolution, while delivering a seamless, secure, and scalable fan experience worldwide.” The team engages hundreds of millions of fans across over 180 countries, according to its official site.
Hedera Council Chairman Mance Harmon welcomed the partnership, citing McLaren’s innovative track record and global reach. Consequently, the collaboration will leverage Hedera’s enterprise-grade network for new consumer experiences focused on trust and security.
Meanwhile, the first use case is already live, featuring free digital collectibles minted on the Hedera network. These collectibles, themed around specific race weekends, debuted during the Australian Grand Prix.
The program aims to serve as a Web3 entry point for motorsport fans and introduce the Hedera community to racing. Furthermore, more Formula 1 season activations will be announced throughout the year.
McLaren Racing leadership will participate in the upcoming HederaCon event in Miami Beach on May 4. This timing aligns strategically with the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix and industry conference Consensus 2026.
