Hedera Modernizes Climate Data Management with Guardian 3.0
Hedera has released version 3.0 of its Guardian platform, establishing what it calls the world’s largest open-source digitized climate methodology library. The update aims to modernize environmental data management by replacing traditional documentation methods with blockchain-based solutions.
Major Financial Incentives for Developers
Two significant funding initiatives have been announced to support the platform’s growth. The HBAR Foundation is launching a Community Bounty Program offering up to $25,000 in quarterly rewards over a two-year period for developers contributing to the open-source codebase.
Additionally, Exponential Science has introduced a Methodology Bounty Program, allocating up to $5,000 per methodology for 50 different implementations over two years. The program aims to create specialized Methodology Fellows focused on digitizing and open-sourcing climate methodologies.
Enterprise-Grade Features and Security
Guardian 3.0 introduces several enterprise-focused improvements, including enhanced permission controls, real-time analytics capabilities, and comprehensive visualization tools. The platform now offers full API access, enabling deeper integration with existing business systems.
Following a comprehensive security audit in September 2023, the platform implemented various security enhancements to meet enterprise-grade requirements.
Expanding Methodology Library
The platform’s repository now includes implementations of methodologies from major environmental standards organizations, including:
– Clean Development Mechanism (CDM)
– GHGP Corporate Standard
– Global Carbon Council
– Gold Standard
– Verra
– iREC
Each methodology undergoes automated compatibility testing with new Guardian releases to maintain accuracy and reliability.
Development Opportunities
Developers interested in contributing to the platform can access the Guardian documentation and participate in community developer calls by contacting SIF@hbar.fund. The platform maintains an active presence on Twitter for updates and community engagement.
Current implementations can be viewed through various ecosystem projects already utilizing the Hedera Guardian platform.
