Gunzilla Games Teams With Delphi Ventures to Launch GUNZ Token on Avalanche

Building a Web3 Gaming World Where Players Truly Own Their Digital Assets

  • Gunzilla Games partners with Delphi Ventures to establish GUNZ Foundation for token and mainnet launch on Avalanche.
  • Off the Grid game currently operates on GUNZ testnet, with automatic wallet creation and NFT integration.
  • GUN token and GUNZ mainnet launch targeted for Q1 2025.
  • Players will gain increased control over in-game assets through blockchain integration.
  • Delphi Ventures serves as primary validator on GUNZ testnet and strategic advisor.

Gunzilla Games and investment firm Delphi Ventures announced Wednesday the formation of the GUNZ Foundation, a not-for-profit organization that will oversee the development of the GUN token and GUNZ mainnet on the Avalanche blockchain.

Strategic Blockchain Integration

The partnership emerges as Off the Grid, Gunzilla’s battle royale shooter, continues to gain traction since its October public early access release. The game currently operates on a testnet environment, where players automatically receive a blockchain wallet upon first login, with in-game items represented as NFTs (non-fungible tokens).

Vlad Korolev, Gunzilla co-founder and CEO, told Decrypt: “This partnership marks a significant milestone as we prepare for the launch of the GUNZ mainnet and its utility token GUN.”

The implementation differs from traditional gaming marketplaces like Steam in several ways:

  • Players maintain direct ownership of digital assets
  • Assets can be traded on third-party platforms like OpenSea
  • In-game items include both cosmetic and functional elements

Market Timing and Advisory Role

Delphi Ventures, which has invested in prominent blockchain games like Axie Infinity and Pixelverse, positions the next 12-18 months as critical for crypto gaming adoption. The firm’s Founding Partner Piers Kicks notes, “A window of opportunity has opened of favorable market conditions, an aggressively pro-crypto U.S., and many games entering their third and fourth years of the development cycle.”

The GUNZ Foundation aims to address potential economic challenges through:

  • Token economic design oversight
  • Strategic market approach planning
  • Integration of blockchain elements with gameplay mechanics

The GUN token and GUNZ mainnet launch is preliminarily scheduled for Q1 2025, though final timing remains subject to confirmation. Delphi Ventures currently serves as the largest validator on the GUNZ testnet, with Kicks expected to join the Foundation’s advisory board.
