Bold Technologies, headquartered in Abu Dhabi, has partnered with international artificial intelligence company My Aion to launch a $2.5 billion project aimed at building an AI-powered smart city. The new platform, called "Aion Sentia Cognitive City," will use My Aion‘s Maia AI engine to run and improve complex city systems. The platform aims to manage city services like mobility, energy, education, healthcare, and digital offerings. According to My Aion CEO Daniele Marinelli, the AI can handle daily tasks for users, including recommending and booking venues automatically.

The project is based on a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model. Under BOT, private companies build and operate infrastructure for a period long enough to recover costs and make a profit, then transfer ownership to the government. Bold Technologies CEO Thani Al Thani Al Falasi stated the venture will help create jobs for UAE nationals and advance the local AI sector. This initiative will support job creation for UAE nationals, foster local innovation and contribute meaningfully to the national AI ecosystem, Al Falasi said.

Marinelli added relocating to Abu Dhabi will allow My Aion to scale operations using the UAE’s infrastructure and institutional support. The development also highlights Abu Dhabi’s focus on emerging technology and smart city investments. More details about the project can be found in announcements from Bold Technologies and My Aion and a public statement from My Aion.

In other AI-related news, Changpeng Zhao, former CEO of Binance, said during a Dubai event that cryptocurrency could serve as a digital "currency for AI." Catena Labs, led by Circle co-founder Sean Neville, also announced a new AI-focused financial institution, suggesting that AI-integrated payment systems work best when combined with stablecoins.
