- Richard Teng became Binance CEO in late November 2023, after the resignation of Changpeng “CZ” Zhao.
Binance has appointed its co-founder Yi He as co-chief executive officer. The announcement took place on stage during Binance Blockchain Week on Wednesday. Richard Teng, the current CEO, confirmed the move as a natural step given He’s integral leadership role since the company’s launch.
Yi He has been instrumental in Binance’s community development and product innovation. Before this promotion, she held the position of chief marketing officer. Teng noted that sharing the CEO role with He allows the company to benefit from two distinct perspectives, with Teng bringing experience from regulated financial markets.
The appointment places Yi He formally alongside Teng in leading Binance. Yi He co-founded Binance in 2017 with Changpeng “CZ” Zhao, a crypto native with deep expertise in the industry.
Richard Teng took over as CEO in late November 2023 after CZ resigned and pled guilty to charges from the U.S. Department of Justice. Prior to his CEO role, Teng managed Binance’s regional markets outside the United States.
