AWS, NHL, Esports Embrace Theta: July 2025 Ecosystem Roundup

Theta Network Ecosystem Expands with EdgeCloud AWS Integration, New Academic & Esports Partnerships, and Major AI Advancements in July 2025

  • EdgeCloud becomes the first decentralized platform to integrate AWS Trainium and Inferentia AI chips after approval from AWS.

Theta Network reported several advancements across technology, sports, academia, and AI startups for July 2025. The ecosystem recorded new partnerships and integrations, broadening its reach in multiple industries.

AWS approved EdgeCloud as the first decentralized platform to incorporate its specialized AI hardware, AWS Trainium and Inferentia. These chips are designed to improve machine learning tasks, bringing enhanced AI capabilities to EdgeCloud’s network.

In sports, the San Jose Earthquakes introduced their Theta-powered Quakebot, an AI assistant for fans. The Theta Network digital asset also became available on Crypto.com’s institutional custody platform, helping organizations securely hold and manage Theta tokens.

Adoption grew in higher education as a group of universities joined the network. Syracuse University professor Junzhe Zhang and his AI lab, George Mason University, and Hongik University began using EdgeCloud services, furthering academic research with decentralized computing. AI startup Hypernology also adopted EdgeCloud technology. Meanwhile, Esports teams Gen.G and Dignitas each created new agentic AI bots using EdgeCloud, with their launches detailed here and here.
