or as he moves into a new role that allows him to be more focused on the network protocol and adoption strategy.

Denelle Dixon has been a mainstay the web browser developer since 2012. During her seven-year tenure, she had overseen an effort to diversify Mozilla revenue sources, including through the Pocket acquisition in February 2017. Her career encompasses different roles including  head of business and legal work, and most recently chief operations officer.

Much like Ripple

Ms. Dixon said her new mission is to bring all she’s learned to Stellar and to ensure that internal teams work well together to achieve goals. Externally, she will work with partners and allies to ensure transparency, control and innovation for users and to create a sustainable business platform.

Stellar is an open-source payment technology that shares several similarities with Ripple. Both coins shared same protocol initially and were also co-founded by the same person, Jed McCaleb. Much like Ripple, Stellar also aims to connect financial institutions and reduce the cost and time required for cross-border transfers.

Commenting on the appointment, Jed McCaleb said: “We’re thrilled to have Denelle lead the Stellar Development Foundation through its next phase of growth. Denelle’s long experience leading operations and business at Mozilla, as well as her work on the policy side, with advocacy around Open Internet and encryption and privacy, will be indispensable to SDF in the coming years.”

Denelle Dixon added: “Throughout my professional career I’ve seen that when an organization embraces openness, attends to the community, and owns a mission, it inspires innovation and harnesses constituency power. I’m extremely excited to bring all I’ve learned to Stellar and to the Stellar Development Foundation.”
